NASA Submersible
Ben Franklin
Designed by mission leader Jacques
Piccard, the NASA submersible PX-15 "
Ben
Franklin"
launched on July 14, 1969 on a 30
day, 1444 mile research mission to "drift" the
Gulf Stream from Palm Beach, FL to Halifax,
Nova Scotia.  This mission received little
fanfare, as all attention was focused on
NASA's other mission, the Apollo 11 moon
landing.

The sub was saved from the salvage yard
and now resides at the
Vancouver Maritime
Museum.
